In the United States, DQ is a nostalgic pillar of the community, often associated with small-town charm and classic American treats. It is a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, famously overseen by Warren Buffett, which speaks to its enduring business model and global reliability.

In China, the story of DQ began in 1992 when it opened its first location in Beijing (北京 Běijīng). Since then, it has expanded to over 1,300 stores across the country, becoming the largest soft-serve chain in the Middle Kingdom. 

Unlike its American counterpart, which often features a full fast-food menu, DQ in China focuses heavily on its identity as a premium dessert destination. You can find these stores in high-end shopping malls and busy pedestrian streets of major cities.

The brand has mastered the art of localization in China.
